Scouting 101:

Getting Started

When is a good time to get started?

Like most Cub Scout Packs, we go year-round. You can become a scout at anytime. Just contact our Cubmaster or the Den Leader in your age group - or, just show up at one of our meetings.

If you have an interest in learning more about our Pack, if you have questions, or if you are ready to get started, please click here and fill out our website form. It only takes a minute and we will contact you shortly.

When do we meet?

Pack Meetings are normally held the second weekend of every month and all of our scouts (1st-5th grade) get together in the same place. The meeting is normally led by the Cubmaster. Keep an eye on the calendar for the date. You are welcome to stop by if you are considering joining the pack. We gear the meeting towards the kids and the goal is to have fun and recognize them for their recent accomplishments (with awards, pins, loops, badges, and whatever else we dream up).

Den Meetings (when just one age group meets - with the Den Leader) are normally held twice a month and when there are specific outings.

To verify meeting times, you can check the calendar here.

What is the Cost of Joining?

Scouting is a year-round program. There is a registration fee at sign-up which is $36. This covers the cost of national registration, insurance, and a subscription to Boy's Life Magazine, Boys Life. This is due with the registration form before your son can be registered.

The annual dues for Pack 72 are $75 due by December 1st each year.

The initial uniform and supplies will cost around $65 (includes shirt, patches, neckerchief, slide, belt, and handbook). We recommend a short sleeve shirt one size larger than your son currently wears. This will allow the shirt to last several years and if its cold you can wear a long sleeve shirt under neath. In addition, it will cost about $25 annually to purchase new handbooks and uniform items.

Our annual popcorn sale gives boys the opportunity to earn their way! By participating in the popcorn sale, you have the opportunity to offset your dues and out of pocket costs.

Should you have any concerns regarding the cost of scouting or uniform costs, please contact our committee chair to discuss. There are scholarships available and we can arrange payment plans for the annual dues.
